Wednesday, April 1st, 2026to Friday, May 16th at noon, has been extended to Monday, May 18th at 12:00 PM.

and technical college 1st and 2nd graders

◼︎ Applicants must be able to participate as "high school students" in all programs scheduled to be held at the University of Tokyo in the next academic year, 2027 (until March 2028). (the website for this year's schedulePlease check
◼︎ High school seniors at the time of application are not eligible to apply.
Applications from overseas are not accepted.
Those who have previously taken UTokyoGSC-Next (second stage, high school course) are not eligible to reapply.
◼︎ You cannot take part in other institutions' Global Science Campus (GSC) or Next Generation Science and Technology Challenge Program (STELLA) programs simultaneously. You can apply, but if you are accepted into multiple programs, you must choose one institution.

Number of people recruiting

Phase 2: Approximately 70 participants (planned)
Phase 3: There will be no recruitment for Phase 3.
Approximately 20 participants (planned) will be selected from those who completed Phase 2.

cost

The course is free of charge. *Transportation costs to the university are the responsibility of the student, but we are considering providing partial assistance for those living far away.

• STEP 1:Prepare your application documents

  prepare the following two documents:
  
  ① Self-recommendation letter (A4, 1 page)
  ② Report assignment (A4, maximum 3 pages)
  
  *In the report assignment, please summarize your thoughts on questions and solutions in a field of science and technology that interests you.
  *Please also check the application notes included in the application documents.
  *Please create the documents using a computer whenever possible.

• STEP 2:Preparing Application Documents ②

  your completed application documents as follows
  Please revise
  
  ① Convert your created application documents to "PDF format".
  *If you are unsure how to convert, please refer to "How to convert a Word document to PDF format".
  *If you have difficulty submitting in PDF format, please contact the secretariat.
  
  ② Change the file name
  to "2026UTokyoGSC application documents_katakana name".
  Example: For Taro Seiken,　
  change it to "2026UTokyoGSC application documents_seikentarou".
  *Do not include spaces.
  *Even if you created the documents on a Mac PC, please convert them to PDF format before submitting.

• STEP 3:Preparing the "Necessary Information"

  Information about your school
  : school name, whether it is a public or private school, school address, email address, phone number, whether it is an SSH school

  *Please set your email address to receive emails from the domain @iis.u-tokyo.ac.jp.

• STEP 4:Fill out the application form and submit the documents.

  Please prepare your application documents and required information, then submit your application through the application form.
