Eligibility
① This program is for students in their third year of junior high school as of April 2026.
(April 2, 2011 (Heisei 23) - April 1, 2012 (Heisei 24))
*If you were born before April 2, 2011, and are currently in your third year of junior high school, please contact the secretariat in advance if you wish to apply. Secretariat e-mail: utokyogsc@iis.u-tokyo.ac.jp
② Applicants must reside in Japan. *Applications from overseas will not be accepted
③ Applicants must be able to read, write, and communicate in Japanese
④ Applicants must have the necessary equipment and internet access to participate in online lectures and remote (Zoom) sessions.
⑤ Applicants must have parental consent to participate.

*Regardless of whether you pass or fail, the selection process and scores will not be disclosed.
Application essay
Please write your reasons for applying and your interests in science and technology in Japanese, on a single A4 page or less.
*The essay must be written by the applicant themselves.
*A PC is recommended, but handwritten submissions are also accepted.
Selection result notification
We will notify you individually by email by Friday, July 10th.
*We will not be able to answer inquiries about your results before Friday, July 10th.
curriculum
The course consists of the "Metaverse Engineering Junior Course" and the "Friday Special Course for High School and University Students," as designated by the UTokyoGSC-Next Secretariat. After attending each course, you will be asked to submit a one-page A4-sized reflection, and a university student TA will provide feedback. There will be no graded evaluation

・Free participation
Saturday, November 14th, 9:00 AM - approximately 5:00 PM: Observation of the joint results presentation
Those who wish to participate can attend the second stage poster presentation and the third stage held at the Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo
Oral presentations can be observed on-site
*Only the participant themselves may attend. Parents, friends, school teachers, etc., are not permitted to attend
*Please note that transportation costs will not be reimbursed, so please cover your own transportation expenses to the venue
Notices
・This course is designed to give you an experience of UTokyoGSC-Next. The curriculum will include explanations of the application documents for the second stage, but please note that there will be no additional points awarded for applying to the second stage.
・Please apply with the consent of your guardian.
・If you are accepted, please note that the personal information you provide will be shared with the "University of Tokyo Metaverse Engineering Junior Course" and the "(University of Tokyo College of Arts and Sciences) Friday Special Course for High School and University Students."
